SALVATION IS A JOURNEY

(A Message by Pastor Dahunsi Olawole)
Galatians 2:20
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
1 Corinthians 15:3
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
John 3:16-19
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
Many people believe that when they are born again, that is all about salvation. Salvation is a continuous process that ought to continue till the day we meet with the Lord and this is to tell us that
SALVATION IS A JOURNEY.
The purpose of this message is to bring us to remembrance;
• That our salvation has a purpose and that as Christians we have a reason why we are here on earth. That is, there is an assignment that we have to do here on earth.
• That we have a place of rest after now; this world is not our resting place.
• That so many of us are already fallen by the way side.
• It is to call us back to God from where we have fallen.
• It is to also remind us that Jesus Christ is coming soon so that we can live ready for His second coming.
What Salvation Is Not
1. Salvation is not bearing Christian names
2. It is not going to church
3. It is not the position you occupy in the church
4. That your parents are Christians does not mean you are saved because the Bible says salvation is a personal thing.
5. Salvation is not being good and charitable – Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Acts 10 tells us the story of Cornelius who was doing good and helping the needy but he was not born again.
6. Believing that you are righteous is not salvation – Romans 3:10
7. Obeying all the rules/ the ten commandments of God is not salvation – John 3:3
8. Salvation is not praying and fasting.
What Then Is Salvation?
1. Salvation is to be delivered from our sins and all unrighteousness – Romans 3:22
2. It is to be redeemed from the power of sin.
3. Salvation means; repenting from following the life of sin according to Acts 2:38
4. Salvation is to whole heartedly turn to God through His son Jesus Christ - John 3:16
5. When we are saved, it means we have accepted to live the life of Christ. The first process that takes place in the life of a person whom God has saved is that of water baptism while the second thing that happens is baptism of the Holy Ghost.
The journey of salvation is that you continuously grow in Christ – 2 Peter 1:5-9
1. You must grow in good relationship with God: focusing on God and pleasing Him daily.
2. as a child of God, to grow is to study the word of God daily that will continuously direct you on the path of righteousness but unfortunately most Christians do not study their Bible today - Psalms 1:1-2
3. A child of God also grows by constant praying and watching.
4. You must have a good relationship with others.
5. A child of God ensures in assisting to populate the kingdom of God – your lifestyle must advertise Christ always and make people to want to come to church to serve God.
6. You need to attend church service and ensure that you are learning something every day but you need to also know that no matter how consistent you are in church, an unrighteous person will enter into the kingdom of God – Acts 2 and Psalms 122:1
What Do We Do To Be Saved?
1. Search your life and ask yourself the following questions –
• Am I really saved?
• Am I still walking in the path of righteousness or have I deviated?
• How relevant am I in the house of God; if peradventure I am are not in church service, will people miss your presence.
• Can God testify about me – does God really know me to a point that He will say something good about me as He did to Job?
• If all Christians are like me the way I am now, will there be any Christian?
You need to answer these questions for yourself
Close your eyes and reconcile yourself with God as you begin to talk to God before you pray the following prayers;
• My father, if I have failed you have mercy on me in Jesus name
• Every evil/satanic voice directing me to hell fire, I silence you in the mighty name of Jesus.
• Holy Spirit of God; arise, wake me up from my sleep and slumber in Jesus name.
• If my race is towards hell fire; Holy Ghost, return me back to you in Jesus name.
• All the sweet and sugar that Satan is giving me to make me believe in this world; Holy Spirit, take them away from me in Jesus name.
• Every throne of witchcraft in my father’s house, crumble in Jesus name.
• Enemies of good things in my father’s house, die in Jesus name.
• This month; you my habitation reject poverty, shame, disgrace and failure in the mighty name of Jesus.
• Powers that want to fight me and my family this month die in Jesus name.
• I shall not die suddenly; I shall fulfill my days on earth in Jesus name.
• This month I shall be blessed above my contemporaries in Jesus name.
• Any power that has vowed that I will not enjoy this month, die in Jesus name.
• Anything that belongs to me this month shall not be given to another person in Jesus name.
